Fall is an incredible time to be in Georgia, with cooler temperatures, lower humidity, colorful leaves, and lots of fall festivities to check out. Pumpkin Patch Farm, Adairsville

This fall destination in Adairsville is perfect for picking out pumpkins for cooking, carving, and decorating. In addition to pumpkins, you’ll also find lots of gourds, Indian corn, hay, corn stalks, and unique gifts. Take a hayride along Oothcalooga Creek and through the pumpkin fields to enjoy the fall weather. Kids will love meeting the barnyard animals, playing on the slides and tunnels, and having their faces painted. Guests are welcome at the farm on Saturdays and Sundays in October from 10am to 5pm. The general admission cost is $7.50 per person plus tax and includes most of the farm activities.

Uncle Shucks Pumpkin Patch and Corn Maze, Dawsonville

Uncle Shucks is an awesome destination with pumpkins, a corn maze, and a corn cannon that shoots, located just northeast of Atlanta and between Alpharetta and Gainesville. You can try to find your way through the haunted maze on October weekends at dusk or take a relaxing nighttime hayride through the farm. There’s also a Goat Walk, Jumping Pad and delicious food. End your evening by roasting marshmallows and enjoying the laid-back atmosphere. The maze is on a 12-acre field of corn and has about four miles of trails.

Buford Corn Maze, Buford

Another awesome corn maze in Georgia is located in Buford from Labor Day weekend through early-November. This is a family-friendly agritourism destination with pumpkins, a hayride, corn box for kids to play in, combine slide, and popcorn jumping pillow too. You can also get spooked in the Haunted Forest, take a pony ride, see farm animals, and pick up some food and drinks at the concession stand here. You can’t beat the family-friendly atmosphere, which strives to educate children about agriculture and farming while having fun.

Poppell Farms, Odum

Located in Odum, Poppell Farms is a great choice for fall family fun in Southeast Georgia. Here you’ll find everything from hayrides to a pumpkin patch, as well as a petting farm, a 10-acre corn maze, and the Haunted Woods. This is a great place to take a weekend drive to if you’re coming from Savannah, Tybee Island, Hinesville, Jekyll Island, St. Simons, Darien, and many other towns in the region. The farm has owned and operated by Genell and Tanya Poppell since 1988, and it opens up for Christmas tree sales during the week of Thanksgiving.

Mercier Orchards, Blue Ridge

For farm fresh apples, look no further than Mercier Orchards in Blue Ridge. This destination in the North Georgia Mountains is family owned and operated, now in its fourth generation. It’s open every day and offers hard-pressed beverages at its cidery. Come here for a fun day of picking apples on the farm on weekends, or you can simply buy some in the store. Many different varieties of apples are in-season in the fall here. You can bring your dog as long as you stay on the deck and grassy areas.

Kinsey Family Farm, Gainesville

Kinsey Family Farm offers even more family fun in North Georgia. The farm is open to the public from mid-September through October and has no admission fee. This is a great place to find your Halloween pumpkins and pumpkins and gourds of various colors and sizes. Hayrides are also offered, with rides at the top of each hour on weekdays and continuously all day on weekends. Kids will also enjoy the barn animals and fish feeding, and there’s a lovely picnic area that overlooks a pond to enjoy your packed lunch.

Hillcrest Orchards, Ellijay

Ellijay is home to some of the very best apples in the Southeast, and Hillcrest Orchards is a fun farm where you can pick them up. It’s about a 1.5-hour drive from Atlanta and open to the public from September to November. Weekday admission includes a petting farm, wagon rides, and playgrounds with giant slides. Weekend admission adds apple picking, swimming pig races, live bands, and more. There’s also a bakery and farm market open where you can pick up festive fall goodies as well as a café serving delicious foods on festival weekends.
